Sold, 12th century fortified Saracen tower, last vestige of a medieval fortress 17 km from Montpellier and 20 km from Sète. This fortified tower with dwelling house and indoor swimming pool stands in the heart of a medieval village.
Description
This fortified tower is the last vestige of a medieval fortress. Construction of the tower began in the 11th century and was completed in the 12th century. Surrounded by the ramparts of the former fortification and facing the Romanesque church, this 13th-century tower, which is practically on the outskirts of the village, overlooks a municipal car park.
The fortified tower
This fortified Saracen tower spans 500 m2, 248 m2 of which can be lived in, adjoining the ramparts of a village, part of which is thought to have been built in the 11th century. This 12th-century tower has been converted into comfortable living accommodation on four levels, with a patio and indoor swimming pool. The ground floor comprises a reception room and library. The other 3 levels feature reception rooms with fireplaces and vaulted ceilings. Access to the tower via a narrow staircase leading to a terrace at the top. The 4 bedrooms, one of which has a terrace, all have en suite bathrooms. There is a garage.
Some refurbishment works are planned.
