For sale: a 470 m2 castle built at the end of the 12th century and modified in the 17th century, set in 2970 m2 of wooded parklands with outbuildings. This walled medieval castle stands in a dominant position in a village.
    Description

In the Grands Causses National Park, 5 km from Le Caylar and 20 km from the Navacelles cirque, this village on the Larzac plateau, at the crossroads of the Hérault, Aveyron and Gard departments, was built on a rocky spur. The first traces of settlement date back to prehistoric times. But the village was actually built in the Middle Ages. This late 12th century castle was the summer residence of the bishops of the diocese of Lodève. This part of the Hérault was marked by the presence of the Templars.
    The 12th century castle.

This castle was built at the end of the 12th century. It has a rectangular plan with three levels and 2 imposing towers on the north façade. On the south façade, the family coat of arms has been sealed in, along with loopholes and machicolations.
This 12th century castle steeped in history spans approx. 470 m2 in a dominant position and comprises: a courtyard of honour, several reception rooms with French ceilings, a study with vaulted ceilings, a kitchen, 8 bedrooms and 8 shower rooms. 2 terraces with panoramic views. An old stable for renovation. Walled parklands with century-old trees and a belvedere.
