Sold, a 19th century castle with towers of approx. 744 m2 set in 3.57 hectares of peaceful parkland 5 km from the Canal du Midi and 9 km from Béziers. This former 19th century castle dating from the end of the second empire around 1870, in need of renovation, with its 3 towers, stands in a dominant position in 3.57 hectares of enclosed parklands comprising meadows and woods as well as a well with a watering system connected to the Bas-Rhône. The Canal du Midi (UNESCO World Heritage site) is 5 km (3 miles) away.
Description
A basilica was built in 455 in this commune near Béziers. The phylloxera crisis around 1870 determined the richness of this wine-growing region. The Pinardier castles bear witness to this. Accessed via a gated path in 3.57 hectares of parklands, this 19th century castle in need of renovation has around 744 m2 of living space overlooking the parklands.
The castle
This castle, built in 1870 by the architect Louis Garros, is set in parklands planted with century-old Mediterranean trees, with paths for strolling along. This residence is flanked on the south side by 2 square towers and on the rear by a round tower with a terrace offering a panoramic view.
As the castle has not been lived in for 80 years, renovation work is required (electricity and mains supply, septic tank, mains water supply). The slate roof has been renovated, as has the zinc work. The spacious reception rooms on the ground floor with their open fireplaces will let you savour the richness of this place. This 4-storey Second Empire castle bears witness to the splendour of Béziers' high society. 11 luminous rooms on 2 levels offer a privileged view of the park. The 3.57 hectares of meadows and woods in the enclosed park will give you the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Ground floor
The main 19th century entrance is on the south-facing side. A 29 m2 reception hall leads to the reception rooms. Two reception rooms of approx. 43 m2 and 24 m2 with moulded ceilings. A dining room of approx. 43 m2 m2. A front kitchen of approx. 20 m2. 2 corridors of 9 m2 each leading to the reception rooms. A large two-quarter turn stone staircase with intermediate landings leading to the upper floors. A back staircase takes you to the half-basement with its vaulted-ceiling kitchens.
First and second floors
The landing on the first floor welcomes you through a gallery leading to the bedrooms. These two levels, each around 189 m2, offer a privileged view over the parklands. 11 bedrooms (ranging from around 16 m2 to around 25 m2). A study of around 16 m2. The two towers have been converted into bedrooms.
Access via a staircase from the landing room on the second floor will take you to the top of the round tower at the rear, which has been converted into a terrace, giving you a panoramic view of the parklands and woods.
Half basement.
This half-basement of approx. 175 m2 has been converted into a kitchen, wine cellar, vaulted cellar, scullery and staff dining room. Access via the main staircase or a back staircase.
